My new love these days is Wonder Woman.

She is just sooooooo cool!

Love the comic books, and now theres a new Wonder Woman series soon to be aired on NBC in the USA. (although I'm not sure I love Adrianne Palicki's costume as much as the original shown above on Lynda Carter) And to make it even better.....MAC are doing Wonder Woman cosmetics!

I can't wait for Hallowe'en now! Think I might have to invest in a gold crown and some red boots myself!

In the meantime, I'll settle for the MAC lipgloss ;)

Here in Dubai, you find the most unlikely things in the most unlikely places.

For example, say you need baking paper. Where in the supermarket would you look?

Near the baking stuff I hear you say?! Oh no! That's too simple! Obviously it would be next to the plastic plates and picnic stuff!!!Voila! I quite like living in a Wonderland sort of place, where everyday is an adventure! lol!

Anyhoo, I ventured out with the Babygirl the other day to a play centre in a shopping mall, one that has a huge gift shop on the way out. In between the moans and wails about getting a 3 wheeler scooter coming from my daughter, I found a bag of these gorgeous candle bags!! I was a happy chick after that! I would never have thought to look for those in a kids gift shop had I been looking for them. Fire? children? ?!?!?! oh well!

I've seen photos of them online for a while and I dream of having a huge path of them one day....candles are one of my all time favourite things.

Growing Old Gracefully...

So I watched the film, 'Burlesque' the other night. And sadly it was just as I predicted. No it was worse.

And do you know why? Cher. Find out why here.

No that's being mean. I don't mean, that Cher made me dislike the movie, but I just couldn't get over the wierd fact that she is 65 years old and cavorting around on stage with hot outfits on. I know, I know. She looks great! She looks half her age!( or less) Great for her that she is still in the limelight 'at her age', doing what she loves blah blah blah...

It's the same as when Madonna did the video for Hung Up. She looked fab! Her dancing was fab! She has a great flexi body for her age, but there's the thing! I can't help feeling a bit wierd about her age and the leotard thing?! Am I alone here?!

I know 65 isn't that old. Well it's not. I hope I'll still have a bit of glamour in me when I'm 65 and hopefully I will still be able to touch my toes by then too, but I definately won't be wearing a leotard!

God willing I'll live until Im 100 years old so that I can get a letter from the Queen. (whoever that may be when I'm 100) but I want to be one of those superbly eccentric old ladies who have purple glamourous hair, with strings of pearls around my neck, and big shades and wrinkles, and at least 2 cats who eat from crystal dishes. I want to be an old School Oldie, with the same wit and wisdom that I like to think I have now.

I've met some older Emirati women here in Dubai, and they are the funniest people ever. The ones who make the jokes, who keep the laughter in the house. And from my experience, it's the older people who are more open minded funnily enough than their younger generations. I think when you get to a certain age, your philosophy becomes 'Live and let live', even if you have had strong opinions or views on things in the past.

Speaking of Dubai and older People....where are all the older people?!?!?!?!?!

I found this super cool blog from New York and it's full of fantastically old, stylish gorgeous people who don't look like they've been near the surgeons knife!

I thought I'd share some green to celebrate St.Paddy's Day. Im not Irish, but celebrating seems the cool thing to do.

I wonder how many people actually know who St. Patrick was and why he is the patron saint of Ireland?! These days it's more about the black stuff and the parade in New York (which does look incredible and you can watch from the link live!).

I'm not really into eating green stuff (except some veggies and chocolate limes) but who could resist one othese scrummy looking cupcakes?

Hippy Happy Birthday to me!

Today was my birthday. It's nearly over and it was meant to be filled with cupcakes, candles and lots of sunshine at the park.

But instead, I have the beginnings of a cold, sore ears and aching muscles, so I spent the day on the sofa feeling sorry for myself and eating heart shaped chocolates.

But the good news is that Pete's Dragon was on tv which is a great Disney movie, so it's not all bad! And I got some lovely gifts too, which included a gorgeous Swatch Zampilo ring which I love!

Oh and I managed to make a good start on a new journal, Butterfly Bloom.

So all in all, it wasn't a bad day!

And it's my Unbirthday tomorrow and Pancake Day too, so it's all good!

I LOVE all this cute stuff and could spend hours in the shops in Thailand that are full of teeny tiny stationery bits and pieces decorated with ultra cute designs. Of course everyone does need a post-it note thats only an inch in size with a cute design, to write down miniscule love notes!eep! too cute! So as you can imagine I was very dissapointed when my daughter started nursery and they told me that she didn't need to bring a pencil case. The school provides all stationery tools. Boooooooooo!!!! Boring!

It's great that I have a super cute daughter who loves all this stuff too, so I can buy it for me...for her! Win, win!!

Pink!!

Of all the colours in the spectrum, I've been loving pink the past few years more and more. I used to only wear black, in a cool Donna Karan kind of way. I was never a Goth, just couldn't resist black. While all my friends wanted to be Sleeping Beauty at aged 10, I was in love with Morticia Addams and her long floaty dress with black whispy sleeves.

Then I changed to Green. Emerald green. It was my favourite colour for quite some time, but then pink started to creep in on me. I associated pink with Barbie and flouncy girls who would cry if they broke a nail....and now I love pink the most?!?!?!

It all started with my pink Vaio laptop, then my pink matching external hard drive, then my Dad (who was glad I had passed the black phase) bought me a beautiful pink pen. Oh I'm quite glad that it seems to just be accessories that I love in pink. I don't actually own any pink clothing. There's nothing wrong with girls who wear pink, it just goes against my grain.I have no idea why!

Anyhoo, my pink craving has come to an all time peak. I spotted this baby and fell in love...

Taaaa daaaaaaaaaaaah! A Kitchen Aid Mixer in pink!!! I had only seen them here in red and cream, so I was overly happy to see this and had to call my husband right that very second to tell him and hint loads that this would make a fab birthday pressie for me. Subtly hinting mind! And then this would fit perfectly in 'our' dream kitchen in the new house!! Bonus!

So there you have it. I am Staceydotdot, and I'm addicted to pink. Baby pink.sigh.

I've decided that this year I'm going to celebrate as much as I can! Even the small things that happen throughout the year, I'm going to celebrate! I love little tea parties and baking is my new 'thing', so celebrating goes hand in hand with these new 'hobbies'!

Moving!!

For a few reasons, I have decided to move from a Facebook Group to a Facebook page. The most important thing is that its easier to advertise and I can actually arrange my photos into albums, instead of having 500 photos to trail through when you are looking for something.

So, please head over to Facebook and check out my new page, and if you like what you see then please "Like" me and join in for updates.

I think this year I will try to do a few craft fairs in the local community. They are so much fun and it's really nice to actually chat to people who like your work. It's encouraging and inspiring. I always get great ideas from talking to customers. I'm also going to start making some more journals and they will all be displayed in the Facebook page I was talking about earlier.

Speaking of journals, I made a new journal a few nights ago while watching CSI Miami. It's nice and fresh for Spring!

Grown Up House

Well, I have managed to keep this a bit low key for about 2 years, but we are building a house.....from scratch.Yaaaaaaaaay!!!!!

I was a bit apprehensive about discussing it at first, maybe I felt like I was tempting fate getting too excited about it? I'm funny that way.

Well about 2 weeks ago I saw this beautiful journal, and had to buy it. From that moment on I decided that I am going to enjoy planning this house and be proud to talk about it, as my husband and I have already worked hard to get to this stage.

It's a home journal where I'm keeping track of design ideas, wallpapers, room inspiration and codes for tiles and paint colours!Yes I am thinking ahead! So exciting!

Just to get to the stage of having the plans approved was quite a challenge. Everyday there is something else that has to change, or be moved. I have discovered that plans are never final. There is always room for improvement.

And of course I can't ever stick with the task in hand. I had to start doodling and sticking stuff in my book. Ironic really...this book is for planning our Grown Up House?!?! My husband pleads with me not to take this book on-site. "The builders will laugh at us" he says. Well I'm sure they are laughing already at the sight of me, up at the build every other day checking every last detail. Who cares if they laugh! I'm like a kid in a sweetie shop when I'm walking around the site.

I remember my Mum used to tell me about how much she loved having the house to herself once in a while. Time to listen to your favourite music, watch your favourite television programmes or read a book in quiet. Well, as a teenager I thought she was mental! Who would want to be alone in the house?! How boring!!! And how could she ever possibly want to have any time away from me? Her angelic daughter?

Fast forward quite a few years and there I was doing exactly that! And relishing every moment.

Husband at work, Babygirl in bed.

Billy Holiday music playing, twinkly fairy lights glowing, the cat purring on the edge of the sofa and me. It was lovely and quiet! Don't get me wrong, I love my family, but every mother knows how precious 'Me Time' is and how rare it is to obtain. And no drone of football drums and songs from the tv! Bonus!

And here is what I made during my quiet night... you will need to tilt your head to the left to view the photo as I can't get Blogger to rotate or upload a new one for that matter.sorry.

Plese excuse my very amateur sewing skills. This is the first I have knitted since Primary 5 when I made a Raphael Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle hand puppet. All the other girls made princess puppets. My Babygirl would do the same thing these days.

And I discovered that I had lots and lots of comments on my blog from months ago that I didn't even know I had!!! So I do apologise if you commented and I didn't reply. I've said before, I'm more of a paper and pen type of gal. Computer stuff baffles me alot.

Best afternoon ever!

Santa brought Babygirl a trampoline for Christmas which she loves. She runs outside with all her dolls and then climbs into the trampoline, zips up the safety net and bounces away for a while. Then she lies in the middle of the trampoline with her dolls and just stares up at the sky for a while, enjoying the sound of the birds and watching the planes overhead.

It looked pretty awesome, so I decided I would try it too.....And awesome it is. Being 4 years old again for 5 minutes should be a daily ritual that everyone should aim to do. Forgetting the worry, the dishes in the sink and just taking time out.

In fact, the "Trampoline house"(which Babygirl affectionately calls the trampoline. Her version of a tree house I suppose) is such a perfect place to chill out in the afternoons, we stayed there for a few hours making some funky jewellery. We took trays of beads and some ribbon and made a new sparkly bracelet for Babygirl. She was very chuffed once it was all finished. She had to wait until I ironed the beads together to fuse them(which of course I didn't do in the trampoline house!). Pretty cool idea! We got the beads from Ikea, ahem Santa! They are brilliant and come with little templates. A bit 'footery' for small hands, but with Mums help its a doddle!

Spending a day in your child's world is so very satisfying. I felt very pleased with myself for spending hours with my daughter doing what she wanted to do.

As I opened the box of frozen chicken nuggets and tin of beans for dinner, I didn't feel so guilty ;)

A morning of smiles

Yesterday I packed up my craft bag with lots of yummy papers, ribbons and crystals, and heading out from the city to a sanctuary of calm that is the Dubai Foundation for Women and Children. I was off to do a small arts and crafts workshop and I was super excited although, not really knowing what to expect.

Well, I met some amazing, strong women and girls at the centre and although I didn't know their circumstances, I knew that they had probably experienced something I hope I never have to.

But regardless of this, my morning was filled with chit chat in many languages, smiles, giggles and creativity. We were all out in the garden under a large marquee, busy making some flower peg photo holders. The atmosphere was just calming and fun, and all the women made some amazing designs which they were all very proud of.

Of course when the photo holders were finished the smiles were bigger and I could see the pride beam over their faces!

What a wonderful morning it was.

Spring Cleaning!

Well here we all are, in 2011! Where has the time gone?

Busy, busy life has taken over our household with lots of activities over Hallowe'en, then Christmas and New Year with an overseas trip in between!

But here I am again. Again, again!

I feel very positive about this year and feel very inspired at the moment, which is the reason I'm posting now I suppose. I don't actually think I am much of a blogger, but I do like to share the little projects I do, and I love taking photos and showing them off.

So here goes yet another attempt to keep up this blog.

I'm a bit late now, but Happy New Year! Here's to a year of baking cupcakes,trying to keep my roses alive, using lots of glitter and celebrating just being able to do it all!

Hi everyone! If there are still people reading?!

I've just been soooooo busy getting outside in this lovely weather we are having here in Dubai at the moment, that I haven't had time to do any crafts really, or to blog! I do apologise that my blogging is very sporadic!

But here I am today for a short, but photo filled post!

My Babygirl celebrated her 4th birthday last month and we had a fantastic party in the party! It really was so much fun, if a little hectic to organise! Seriously, you don't have to spend lots of money hiring people to supply things and entertain the kids....you really can do it yourself! And at the end of the party, when your little one is smiling and so happy, you will be too! It's so worth the effort to DIY it!

Last weekend, one of my best friends had her baby shower. She affectionately named her 'bump' Jellybean, so of course what a fab theme that would be for a baby shower!

Well summer is here and it seems to be the time for beautiful new babies to make their arrivals!

Lots of my friends have just had a baby, or are due over the next few months. Exciting times!

Here are a few snapshots of a beautiful wooden name board I made for a lovely client who has just celebrated the arrival of a gorgeous son! The name board was used on the door of her hospital room! What a lovely idea!

The board is hand painted, papered and hand printed in the damask pattern and then embellished with genuine Swarovski crystals, buttons and lots of ribbon.

The client also requested a matching guest book for her baby shower to enable her guests to put pen to paper with all of their well wishings.

Well Im sure nobody is reading this, as I've been gone for sooooo long, but I'm back!

As I mentioned before, I was very busy and had lots of projects on the go, but now Im finding I have a little more time to come and blog about my little happy life.

I was blogging about my work and journals and projects alot and to be honest I was feeling I needed to add a bit more to my posts.......so this blog is going to be a little bit of everything from now on! Life, projects, inspiration.....and lots and lots of interiors!

Well my blogging has come to a stand still......as you have probably noticed.

I jus find it very time consuming keeping up to date with all of these things everywhere! And these days, time is precious and so Ive decided that my blog posts will be only when I have something exciting to share!That may only be once a month!Once every two months.........who knows.

The only thing Ill really be updating is my Facebook and my "Staceydotdot Facebook Group". Please join my group to keep up to date with all things happening with me.

Recently I started stocking items in Harvest Home, Magrudys Centre on Jumeirah Beach road in Dubai, UAE. Its a quirky lil shop full of wonderful goodies! I could spend hours in there browsing.......I could also spend a small fortune in there on all the cute stuff!

Anyhoo, for now Ill say "See you sometime soon" and Ill report back when theres stuff to report!

This week has been crazy busy! But amongst all the havoc, I found a few minutes of peace to swoon over the latest eye candy on the internet.

Dont get me wrong, I do love to see shoes and handbags and nice watches, but true eye candy for me, is just anything that arouses the senses. So Ive been hanging onto the back of the Twitter bandwagon for a wee while, wondering whether to just jump off, or climb right on board.(Thats me on the left of the screen, head down wondering!lol)

Initially I just thought Twitter was wierd. "Following" random people just felt like cyber stalking to me. Maybe Im too polite for Twitter. I cant just jump in on people conversations, so maybe Ill fail at Twitter.

This week though Ive been taking a mini "cyber" course about marketing thanks to the wonderfully talented Timothy Adams.

Tim and LOADS of other people seem to think Twitter is a great place to meet new networks of people, advertise and get your products out there! So Im going to hang on for a little while longer, follow the tips from the course and see how it goes.

Its been a while people!

I've been crossing off a multitude of things from my never ending To Do List!

* Car registration - Done!

* Pay phone Bill - Done!

* Organise birthday gifts - Done!

* Orders - Done!

* Shows - Done!

It doesnt seem much, but it was!

Anyhoo, I took part in a University Sale and that went well-ish. Im finding that my journals do better in boutiques than at the art fairs/ craft shows. People question the price at art fairs and craft shows, where in the boutique they sell like hot cakes!

Anyhoo, speaking of which, all of my journals are now in Cottage Chic at The Walk, JBR. Its a beautiful store full of Rachel Ashwell and Shabby Chic items.....its a little paradise for me! And yesterday after dropping off a new order, I passed by the store front window, and there on a beautiful white writing desk was one of my little gold journals. I walked away secretly smiling to myself! I made shop window! Woohoo! Maybe not a big deal for Valentino or Gucci, but for lil old me, it was a success milestone!

So the topic of stores then brings me to Etsy........I dont sell on Etsy! I mean I do(or did) but my items are just too expensive for the US market! The cost of my items here in Dubai are "top end" but compared to US prices, they are astronomical......and thats before shipping :( So sadly, Im just going to be a buyer and a lurker on Etsy for the time being!

The one thing that cheers me up every day is this blog, Daisy Pink Cupcake. My husband and I are building a house(which isnt even started yet) but its never too early to drool over beautiful interiors, fabrics, colours and gorgeous pool side set ups!

New Homes!!

Well I can finally reveal that the new collection of my journals went to a new home yesterday to be sold. Im so excited to tell you that the new home is the fabulous Cottage Chic at the Walk, Jumeirah Beach Residence!! The store is absolutely gorgeous! Shabby chic style furniture, quirky wall hangings, gorgeous shades of green, blue and pink and now of course some yummy journals!

Im so excited! Head up there on the weekend for the Covent Garden Market at The Walk and then head into Cottage Chic to enjoy the splendour!

Speaking of new homes, I would love a miniature dolls house! Maybe when my daughter is old enough, we could build one together?! Ive been browsing the net, drooling over the photos of teeny tiny breadsticks, flip top tables and flowerpots! Some of the houses look so real! Its amazing!

Happy Valentines Day

Well you should at least be happy that its not Friday the 13th anymore! I thought my hair straightners had blown up yesterday, so not a good start for me!lol! Im so lame! Thank fully they have recovered!

Anyhoo Valentines Day..........Im in two minds about this. Is it the one day of the year where you should show love and affection and romance? Or should you do that more often? Im sure it was a man who invented Valentines Day. You can imagine it now........"yes one day a year of pressies, affection and love is more than enough! Two days would be overdoing it!" lol!

I also belive its just a huge marketing ploy to get you to spend lots of money on junk after Christmas! But hey! It is fun and yes it is nice to get flowers and chocolates and perfume.........but I do expect that more than one day a year! My husband will verify that!lol!

Anyhoo, in the spirit of things I made a cute little Love Bird notebook to mark the occassion!

Remember my friend that got married in Las Vegas? And I made her box favours?

Well she has finally got round to sending out her thank you cards, so its now safe for me to post them!lol!

Simple monochrome cards with a little bling from Swarovski. I made these to match her colour scheme, black white and silver.

Theres a fabulous online agazine called ScrapNArt which I subscribed to and I LOVE!

Its full of inspiration and amazing talent....hee hee! Which leads me on to my lil piece of news!

Im going to have a project published in the magazine!woohoo!

I simply sent in a photo of my little baby shower pegs and they accepted to include it in the March/ April issue! Im so excited! So check it out!

Okay the wierd part of this post is...........Paris Hilton is bringing out scrapbook supplies?!?!?!?!?

Oh sorry, but "scrapbook" isnt cool enough for Paris, so its going to be called "Creativity Collection" lol!I wonder what it will look like? Will it be all pink, glittery with little toy dogs all over it?! Will the embellishments be 5 carat dimaond brads? Hmmmmm...... its going to be out this spring.........lets wait and see. I cant see her being anything at all like Elsie Flannagin or Marie!!

Frosty day, twinkly lights and lovehearts

One of my friends was married in the UK at the beginning of January and she made me feel very honoured when she asked me to make her wedding favours and place cards for the tables on her BIG day!

It really is soooo flattering when someone wants to include your work in the most special day of their lives!

Anyhoo, I saw photos of the big day and the bride looked effortlessly beautiful, with a gorgeous faux fur stole to keep her warm, surrounded by twinkly little lights decorating her reception hall! It really looked like a real winter wedding with all the wooden vines and holly berries scattered around the doors and down the bannisters.

Here are the wedding favours I made to match the colour of the bridesmaids dresses. So simple and rustic, but elegant.

As always, the pegs have a magnetic strip on the reverse so that the peg can be reused as a fridge magnet!yay!

Have I shared this with you all before?!

One of my best friends loves The Nightmare Before Christmas, so I made her a Jack Skellington inspired Diary complete with the words to "This is Hallowe'en" on the inside cover.

Here we go! Jack Skellington inspired diary with black and white textured papers, purple and green Swarovski crystals and yummy magnetic clasp!

These little goodies are Christmas Favours I made for the same friend. She went to New Zealand for the festivities and took these cute little camel and Kiwi favours! These favours have magnetic strips on the back allowing them to be used as magnetic paper clips after the event! yay!

Ok Im off to watch Miami Ink. Im thinking about another tattoo.

It will probably take me 5 or 6 years to decide what I want though!lol!

Me time...

Ive been enjoying some me time recently. Going to Scotland, spending time with family.

So far its been a good start to the year.

I have lots and lots and lots of ideas for journals buzzing around in my head and I have some super cute embellishments for new journal collections.

Im hoping to be doing a craft fair at the end of February, so Ill be busy making new collections for that too.

Sorry for the lack of eye candy in the past few posts. Taking time out from my little hobby means I dont have much to post about unfortunately!

Well its been a lovely 2 weeks of munching on mince pies, watching old Christmas cartoons, having dinner under the Christmas tree and enjoying the company of friends and family.

Since I last blogged, I have travelled half way across the world to Scotland to visit my family. Its sunglasses and coat weather here at the moment and its just lovely!

New Year, new projects!
Ive decided that although I love doing custom orders, I have to lay off them for a while in order to conjure up some new designs of my own! Ive got loads of new supplies that I cant wait to try out. Im in Scotland until the end of January so it will be February before any new items are up for show and tell.

Im trying to make a new website to enable my customers to buy directly online instead of having to email or message me with orders. This means that the link is "under construction" for the time being! Please bear with me! As you know, Im more of a Paper, scissors, glue type of gal rather than computer savvy!

Santa's on his way...

Well I've been trying to get into the Christmas spirit, and although its nice to have my tree up and eat candy canes, I'm just not feeling it like I normally do.

I'm wondering why that is? Is it because looking out the window it looks like summer? Is it because Ive yet to see a Santa in a shopping mall?Is it because I'm 3000 miles away from my family and the beautiful, dismal, cold Scottish weather at this time of year......probably.

I've been listening to the Home Alone 2 soundtrack, decorating my tree with candy canes, lighting cinammon candles, and watching Chritsmas movies......oh but the best thing I've tried to get me in the holiday mood is have a bath with a Lush Pud! Sounds interesting right?

A Lush Pud is a bath bomb from Lush. It looks like a Christmas pudding and it smells like Christmas in a ball! Paired with Snowcake soap, you'll be sure to feel a little Christmassy!

Anyhoo, today I'm delivering my last few orders and then I'm on holiday for a wee while.

Hopefully in these 3 days before Santa arrives, Ill be able to work some Christmas magic and feel more festive!

A little something special...

A while ago I decorated this Quran with some material, ribbon and beads. It was for a project my sister-in-law had at her school. The materials we had were very basic and I used my mobile to photograph it, so excuse the quality!

We didnt have much time on our hands to decorate them, but it really got me thinking that a beautifully decorated Quran would make a really sweet gift for someone. Maybe for a new bride, or for an engagement, or a little baby pink or blue for newborn babies. How sweet would that be? I know my Mum held a Bible on her wedding day instead of a bouquet, decorated with flowers and trailing ribbons. People keep these books for all of their lives.

In the New Year, when I have the time to actually start making again(!) I plan to have a collection of exquisite Quran. These pieces will be very intricate, ornate and unique.

Watch this space!

Home alone with cinammon tea

This week has been hectic!

I have lots and lots of orders for Christmas time to finish and I really want to get them out by the 16th December, so that I can have time for festivities!

Whist working on these orders though, I have managed to watch a Muppet Christmas Carol twice and Home Alone 2 three times! Home Alone 2 is my absolute favourite Christmas movie ever! Notice the new tunes on my blog now?The first song is from Home Alone 2 and I love it!

And Ive also managed to make spiced cinammon tea which is yummy! Even more yummy when you wear a big jumper and look outside at the rain, and feel cosy! Speaking of rain, we have had plenty of it this week in the UAE! Its so nice to open the balcony doors and have fresh air!Aaaah!

Beads, buttons and charms

Thanks to everyone who made it to the JESS fair over the weekend in Dubai!It was fantastic! So busy and lots of friendly faces!
I made a few new fans, which is always great! I love meeting people and getting their suggestions and feedback on my items!

Anyhoo, now that we are well and truly into the Christmas swing of things(we are arent we?lol), I need to start making some more juicy sparkly journals. I want to go and rummage through some little shops to source beautiful charms, beads and buttons for my journals. I ordered some vintage beads and flower charms online tonight and already Im excited to get them in the post!lol!

I love making journals and I feel that Im going to end up with these as my main sellers. Its just so lovely to have a nice fresh crisp journal to jot down your notes, thoughts and sometimes secrets.

Dates for your diary...

Today I booked tables at a few Winter Fairs around Dubai, so get your diaries out now to take note of the dates!

The first one is at Jumeirah English Speaking School in Dubai from 3.30pm until 7.30pm on the 14th November! Its a Winter Night Market and it sounds fab! I cant wait to check out all the people who are going to be there and all the great items that will be for sale! I've heard its one of the best winter markets here! It will hopefully get me into the Christmas mood!

The next fair is at Jumeirah College in Dubai on the 15th November. This is an afternoon event from 1.30pm until 6.30pm. It's the first fair the school has had so I'm sure it will be great!

The great thing about these fairs is that you can find so many unique gifts that you definately won't find in the regular shopping malls around Dubai.

I can't wait to hand out my new business cards that I got printed today! woohoo!

So I hope to meet a few of you at these fairs! They will be great!

Sunshine and Lollipops

Well I'm back in Dubai to the sunshine! It's lovely to be away but it's always nice to come home isn't it?

Here are a few snapshots from our holidays...Thailand is always amazing and sometimes strange!

Bangkok City...

The islands surrounding Phuket Island...The Chalong Buddhist Temple in Phuket... Some cute kids that were sleeping in the back of a motorbuke trailer...

Motorbikes are EVERYWHERE in Thailand!!...Even babies ride motorbikes here and Im not joking!
My daughter and I went swimming with these fish...Theyre fast!

I love the colours in these umbrellas on the remote beach...This is the island where Leonardo Di Caprios film "The Beach" was filmed.....paradise!

3 funny facts about my holiday in Thailand:

I bought a bag from a lady who proceeded to pluck her armpit hair at the check out after I had paid!?!?!?
I shared a taxi with a small cockroach and it didn't even offer to pay half the fare!!!

I ended up in a restaurant smoking shisha called "Dubai cafe" which had arabic khaleeji music playing in the background and photos of Sheikh Mohammed on the walls......felt like being at home!!!

I came home to a package from the Dozens Kit! Woohoo! Rainbow Nerds kit! Its full of awesomeness and funky colours! I love this kit!Check out the website for new kits!

Im off to do some scrapbooking of my daughter with her new favourite thing........Lollipops!

You have to bear with me this month as most posts will be totally non-craft related! Well it is holiday time for me!

Mind you, I did go for a wander around the Arte Souk at Times Square last Friday. There are some fantastic designer/makers here in the UAE! The beautiful jewellery, the ultra cute felt toys, the amazing paintings and of course the sweet little finger puppets!All amazing creations!It really is worth a visit!

So here are a few random photos Ive taken in the past week, to spruce up this post!....

My family left last night :( I ate far too many Cadbury's chocolate eclairs last night once I got home from the airport.

I woke up this morning and when I came through to get my morning tea, there was no morning chit chat, laughing about the day before, or making plans for the day. Hmmmmmm........

Well Im off to Thailand in 3 days, so I keep thinking of that to keep me happy!

Vacation

Im officially on vacation! yay!

My family are here and we have been having lots of fun!

Heres the list so far:

Went on a creek cruise
Went to Heritage village to see local arts and crafts and camels!lol!
Had shisha down the creek
Ate ice cream from Marble Slab creamery
I bought red patent lollipop shoes(like in the book ;) )
I got a new perfume, Chloe
I finished the wedding favours

We're off to the pool today so that will be fun! Its great having family visiting! Its a chance for me to be a tourist again, and its alot of fun!

Since the beginning of Staceydotdot, people have always asked about photo albums........so heres the first one fresh off the production line!

I think Ill name it "Twit Twoo" and it will be part of the Lollipop range. Its really fun and girly, but vintage at the same time with the colours and the little buttons.

"Think of a Candy store......except the jars of candy are full of beautiful buttons, there are rails of pretty ribbon, shelves of luscious papers and sprinklings of cute embellishments scattered around.....oh and a few birdies are perched over the front door.....tweet tweet!Youve just imagined my little imaginary shop on the web, Staceydotdot Yummy Paper Goods!In the shop window, are funky journals, sweet greeting cards, sweetie tins,wedding favours, baby shower favours, gift boxes, name boards and some mixed media art on the walls."

Thats the introduction of my group on Facebook.

One day.......I'll have the cutest, prettiest little shop in the whole of the UAE.

The staff would wear cute little aprons and they would wander around with trays of miniature cupcakes for shoppers.

At the till, there would be jars of lollipops tied with baby blue satin ribbon for customers to take home!

Oh and dont forget my little birds above the door!

Well........it's nice to dream!

The title describes my house at the moment. A house of cards. Cards everywhere! Birthday cards, anniversary cards and cards I have made!

Ill be selling these at the fairs in the run up to Christmas. They make lovely thank you cards.

Oh speaking of thank you cards, I must make some for my daughter to give to everyone for her lovely birthday pressies!

Yesterday was my daughters birthday! Can't believe she's two already!

We had a mini party and lots of yummy scrummy super delicious cupcakes from Sprinklez Cupcakez. She had a great night, although she has been sick all week. Bless her :)

I wish I lived in a cupcake world! A 1950's cupcake world, with cute aprons, tiered cake plates, huge pink blooms and lemon checked table cloths! Ah........and of course a duck egg blue coloured fridge ;)

IM so sick now too :(

Some Mind Food

I watched The Jane Austen Book Club the other day. I would never have picked the film but it was on so I watched it. It was really good and reminded me that I haven't read a good or great book for a very long time..........cue book hunt.

I made a list of books I would like to read.........and guess what.........out of 5 books, NONE are available in the stores here! One of them is even coming up as banned from the country?! These are just fictional books Im looking for, nothing dodgy at all! Nobody even holds hands in these books!lol!

So my book list goes something like this..

The Enchanted Garden, The House at Riverton, Jitterbug Perfume, The Sugar Queen, A thousand Splendid Suns, Twig, The Magic Toyshop.

Ultimately I'm looking for a book which is in the same genre as Garden Spells by Sarah Allen Addison. I love that book. Its about magic, food and enchanted gardens with whimsical trees.

I'm seriously NOT a fan of chick lit, books that are about single women in New York who wear Monolos and can't find Mr.Right........urgh makes me sick! And I'm not a great fan of reading books about child abuse. One of the bookshops here had a whole section on display just with books about child abuse...really happy stuff.

Anyhoo, during my failed attempt at finding a good book I bought "Confessions of a bad Mother" by Stephanie Calman. Easy to read and quite funny. I too can relate to being a bad mother because my daughter eats the occasional chicken nugget and isnt at piano classes/ baby aerobics/ l'earn 5 languages by the age of three' classes every 2 days!

Sorry for the lack of eye candy on this blog post!

Tell me about your favourite books!I need inspiration for my next shopping trip!

PLease forgive me for being missing in action the past week or so!

I recently started a new job a few days a week, Ramadan has started and I have a few orders that Im working on for Staceydotdot.

My friend flew off yesterday to Las Vegas to get married. Her and her fiance are very 'rock' so Las Vegas is the perfect place for them to tie the knot! It was this wedding that I made the favour boxes for. Maybe I can show a sneak preview of them....
Silver bows with sheet music paper. Nice touch considering the groom is a jazz musician :)

I made a really funky owl photo album that I have to upload photos of and Ive enjoyed spending some time doing a few scrapbook pages with my new Dozens Kit.Its super yummy this month!

Oh and I took my daughter to get her ears pierced! That was eventful! I was more upset than her I think! She just cried for 10 seconds, and then jumped off the chair and pointed to the car, as if to say "right mum lets go!". Just like that!

Anyhoo, Im off to relax after Iftar! :)

Ramadan Kareem!

Yesterday was the first day of the Holy month of Ramadan for Muslims around the world. Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset for 30 days during Ramadan. I join my husband in this fast and it really humbles you, I can tell you! Its quite difficult, but it really makes you appreciate every drop of water and every crumb of food you have. Some people in the world don't know when their next meal is. So think about that tonight when you have your big satisfying dinner :)
Ramadan also teaches you patience..........it really teaches you patience!

So Ramadan Kareem and may Allah(God) bless you!

Now I have a weekend!

So now that I'm working, I've found myself with a weekend! Before last week, everyday was a weekend day! Which was great, but when everyone else is working, it's not that much fun!

Anyhoo yesterday I went to Planet Hollywood for lunch with friends and today Im having a lazy day, before school starts tomorrow!

Oh and this is another page for my new scrapbook that I will use as a portfolio for my custom scrapbook service(plug!!! :P) .........."Alo?" My daughter is a little mobile phone addict already! Whenever she sees a phone she has to talk on it!Iused some little bits and pieces I found lying around that I forgot about! Oops!

I love the contrast of colours and textures. Ribbon and lace and the little plastic telephone brad.

Oh and dont' you jus love that little panda sticker! Most of all I love that wee face! Shes so cute!

Well theres been a few changes in my life in the past week! One of them has been landing myself a new job! So thats exciting! Might take a bit of getting used to though considering I've been a Jumeirah Jane for the past four years!lol! But it's great! More of a 'want to' than 'need to' situation which always makes things better :)

In between being at my new job and playing around with my Babygirl, I've managed to make some new stuff!

I'm thinkingit would be great from now on to either do the Arte Souks in Dubai or put my stuff into some shops here in the Emirates. Etsy just aint happening for me at all!lol! Great community, but I just can't compete with the US dollar at the moment being so low! I'd actually be paying people to buy my stuff!lol! Thats not a great business move!

Anyhoo heres that cute stuff I was telling you about!........

I've also made a beautiful keepsake box from scratch for a customer! Its for a baby girl and its super beautiful and super cute! A little pink, a little bling, a little white, a little angel.....aw! Photos will follow after the customer receives her item!

Don't you just love Orange County Chopper?Im a real petrol head/ grease monkey at heart!

We just recently got some new channels on the tv and one of them is Discovery. I love the Discovery channel and I love Orange County Chopper even more! I would be absolutely over the moon if I could just go to that workshop one day and play about with the tools and drills! Oh and I would love to use the water pressure alloy cutter! Have you seen that machine?! So cool!

I think this comes from my jewellery making days at college. I've told my husband he has to take me to Orange County for my 50th birthday!lol! start saving now honey! I might even get a bike at the end of it! hee hee!

Anyhoo I've been having a break from the crafting world. Just made a few little pegs and some journals, but nothing too labourious.

Oh and I just remembered about a new love of mine........Audi A8......purrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. They are meant to have a V10 version!!!! Eeeek! Can you imagine?

Anyhoo I've probably bored you enough with my cars and engine talk, so I'll go for now and have a nap.......after I finish watching OCC of course! ;)

Well I was inspired by that treasury I was featured in with all the pink little houses and now everywhere I look I find beautiful tea sets, floral pastel patterns and cupcakes that I love, so I thought Id make my own treasury! :)

This "Have some Tea Ring" is by Kacchan on Etsy. Its so cute and I'd feel like Alice in Wonderland wearing it! Which of course is a brilliant thing!

This yummy felt cupcake - Princessa is by SugarChicBaby. Check out her shop for some more seriously yummy cupcakes and other treats! I can almost smell this tea, just from the name....."Peppermint Rose Tea" by SmellsandBells on Etsy. That beautiful pink ribbon really is a lovely finishing touch to this jar of tea!

Back to reality...

Well we have a wonderful time at the weekend again! When we got to the hotel, they said the rooms were fully booked so we ended up in the Royal Suite! Wow! It was beautiful. Not to my personal decorating style, but space wise it was wow! The roof terrace was freakin huge, with a jucuzzi,and we even had a kitchen?! Why would you need a kitchen on holiday!? lol!

We had a great time! My daughter is such a water babe! Shes not scared on the water at all which is fab! She met loads of new friends at the weekend, including a bunch of German boys who adored her! ha ha! So cute!

Anyhoo heres some pics of our palacial room that I took on my mobile phone......

When I returned I found I had been featured in a super cute tresury on Etsy! Yay!

Im going to be having a makeover in the next week! My shop that is! Im having a new banner, avatar, blog banner and packaging and business cards designed as I type! Its super exciting!

Yesterday my daughter and I lay on the couch for a while and watched Scooby Doo and Count Duckula. Count Duckula reminds me of being at primary school, running home after the bell, and watching Count Duckula on tv whilst eating BirdsEye potato waffles and spaghetti hoops! :) Ah those were the days!My Mum was home everyday for my brother and I. My Mum rocks! Oh and while I think about that, I also remember covering my lined jotters in cool magazines. Everyone else had New Kids on the Block or Jason Donovan on their jotter covers. Me? I had Garfield. I loved Garfield. Any time I go home for Christmas, I have to watch an old VHS of Garfields Christmas. Garfield makes me feel all snuggly!

Anyhoo, after Count Duckula, I did a bit of scrapping. No not like a dog! Paper scrapping!

Heres another layout I did. My daughter had a fight with my lipstick one day and lost. I did the Mummy thing and took lots of photos.

I bet shes going to kill me when shes older, and she finds out that I took all of these layouts to craft fairs and showed everyone, to promote my Custom Scrapbook Service! hee hee! Love it!

Today I dont know what to do with myself. Should I go to the mall? Again? Nah.......too many people.

Should I go to the pool? NAh....its too wet.

Should I go to Magic Planet and go on the carousel? Maybe.

Yesterday I finally handed over the wedding order! Phew! I loved doing it but it was definately alot of work. 50 decorated gift boxes and 50 handmade thank you cards all wrapped up and ready to wing their way to Las Vegas baby!

Ive been managing to do some more scrapbook pages and I bought a new scrapbook album yesterday too. Its a Supercool, Popart album and its very me.

Anyhoo as some of you may know I love dolls. Momiji, Matryoshka, any kind of cute dolls. My dad used to travel all over the world(and still does) but when I was little he would bring me a doll from every country he visited. I think when our new house is built, Ill ship all of my dolls from my mums attic and display them in my craft room.

After getting my Dozens Kit through the mail, I just had to make a scrap page! Its so inspiring when you have the materials that are totally your style! I love everything about the kit, and the fact that there are products that I cant get in the UAE really makes it special!

I really want to get the custom scrap book service off the ground. Its such a fab way to highlight some of your really special photos! Im going to start a 12" x 12" scrapbook as a portfolio to take to craft shows.

I posted about our trip to Ras Al Khaimah or locally known as Ras Al Vegas, last weekend and I thought Id let you see a few pics from our road trip! Of course my Babygirl is the star of the show!

On the paper front......I received my Dozens Kit today! Yay!

I cant wait to use all the yummy goodies! Its great value for money and its full of things that I cant get here in the UAE, so Im very happy! Watch out for some yummy goodies made from the kit!

I want to start collecting old papers, like old books or recipe cards or playing cards and such. Id like to incorporate them in my designs. If you have any old paper scraps lying around, please dont throw them in the bin! Send them to me! :D

Over the weekend, me, my husband and my daughter went to Ras Al Khaimah. We stayed in a lovely hotel, had fun at the pool and just relaxed! It was lovely!

Now that Im back, Im working on the wedding order again! Not long til its finished! I cant wait to post photos of everything, but that wont be until after the wedding at the beginning of September!

Speaking of photos......have you ever heard of Picnik?Its a super cool photo editing tool that has lots of fun things to do with your photos for free! I uploaded mine as an application on Facebook and its so easy to use! Check it out!

It was my husbands birthday recently and my daughter and I made him cupcakes. They are certainly not the best Ive seen, but it was my first attempt at making cupcakes from scratch!

I tried my hand at icing them and my daughter had fun with splodging icing on the cakes too.

Paper fetish...

So yes as Ive mentioned before I have a serious paper fetish! I really need to destash very soon! I used to have a box from Ikea that held all my scrapbook stuff and paper, that then became a desk and a few shelves full of it, and now its nearly filling a room! I definately need a dedicated craft room in our new house!

Yesterday I received lots and lots and lots of new paper from a friend. Im so excited to start using it! Might start on that today!

Ive seen alot of people who seem to get loads of scrap packs and samplers for free and I sooooo wish I was one of them! Free yummy scrapping stuff and paper would just be amazing! (hint hint to any of you that want to send me some!lol!)

Up the creek...

Yes, yesterday I really was up the creek, but I didnt need a paddle!

My daughter and I went on a boat trip up the Creek in Dubai last night. It was lovely! Friday nights are one of the busiest in town and the traffic was crazy gettting there, but once we were on the boat, we were the only ones!!! It was like we were in our own wee sanctuary away from the buzz! So lovely!

Then we went for dinner and shisha(well I did) at a little restaurant on the waters edge, surrounded by old buildings with wind towers.

Ive been finishing off a wedding order recently, thats why I cant post pics of it! Dont want all the guests to see the cards and favors prior to the big event!lol!

I found a cool site called Wordle.net..........its so cool! I spent waaaaaay too long playing about with it! When we have built our house I think I want a whole wall with a "wordle" on it using a passage from Winnie the Pooh or Alice in Wonderland?

Museum day...

Yesterday was a photo day. I took my daughter to the Sharjah Museum of Modern art and then we went to the super cool Museum of Islamic Civilization. This museum was truly beautiful! An Amzing place to visit! Well done Sharjah for proving that you are the leader in the UAE, when it comes to art and culture!(In my opinion!)

Anyhoo, the exhibition was "Art Card" in the Museum of Modern Art. 100000 postcads were sent out to artists across the world. The artists decorated these postcards and returned them to the museum. This is a few of the cards I liked.

Here is my submittion! Pretty miserable attempt, but I drew it in the museum, in about 5 mins! And the felt tip pen selection was slightly lacking!Thats my excuse!

Then we headed for the museum of Islamic Civilization. Alooooooooot of thought went into this museum! There is even an AC button in the elevator?! Wow! That wasnt the highlight obviously, but makes my point about attention to detail!

So yesterday was nice and relaxing, until we hit Spinneys the supermarket and my daughter decided she wanted to play 10 pin bowling with fresh pears! Argh!

Anyhoo, off to make salt dough!

One of my favourites....

My Loco collection is one of my favourites.

So far I have made gift boxes, greeting cards and now recently a "Loco" ghutra journal.

Its so cool! My next project is going to be a HUGE canvas styled the same as these designs. I cant wait to make a start on it and cover it in bling......but again.....when am I ever going to have the time?!Maybe once our new house is built, Ill make one to hang in my hall...(oops did I just let you in on the secret that my husband and I are designing and building a house from scratch?! ;) )

Oh and another favourite is my new camera lens! This Chika, Amber Ulmer has some super photos and she told me that she loves her 50mm lens for her camera, so of course I had to rush out and buy one! lol! And it was worth every penny I spent on it!

Be prepared for photo overload soon! Lol! Ive been playing with my new toy for 2 whole days now!I think my daughter is getting fed up of it! lol!

Anyhoo, Ive had to stop taking custom orders as of today, because I have so many orders and I have to start on new collections for the Arte Souks and of course new yummy stuff just in time for Santa coming!

All going well, Ill start taking custom orders in January again!

Road Trip

We had a fab time on our road trip.....It wasnt that far, but Im so grateful we had a beautiful air conditioned car to take us there.......unlike these little guys, trying to hitch a ride in the 45 c heat.

We started off about 11am and within an hour and a half we were in the beautiful mountains, surrounded by desert, greenery and wildlife....

Heres the view of the beach from our room. When we sat on the terrace we could hear the waves crashing......aaaaaaaah.....bliss

We spent the day at the pool with about 16 other friends, my Babygirl had a great time!

At night we all went for a scrummy buffet and my diet went out the window!

Then we had drinks at a friends room and then we hit the sack!

It was so beautiful and my family really needed a well deserved break!

Back to auld claes and purridge now though!

I was stumbling websites today, using StumbleUpon and came across this cool website.

You can create your own digital scrap album full of all of your favourite photos...how cool!

Ths is my favourite scrapblog that I saw, created by Devil_.

When I have time, I might make one of my own, although I must admit to preferring real paper and ribbons.

My hubby, daughter and I are going on a road trip this weekend to Fujeirah with about 16 other friends! Yay! It will be awesome! Sun, sea sand and good food! Cant wait!

Well what do you think of my new blog template?!

I got it from a cool site called "Blogskins.com" and I fell in love and had to have it!

I know its smaller than the normal blogger layout, but its just so cute and lovely that I have to keep it!

Sorry for the inconvenience if you had popped by and it was all a mess in here! But we are back on track I think!

Ive been busy making some new journals which Ill post photos of soon!

Lunch at Paperlane...

Ive been reading Truman Capotes "Breakfast at Tiffany's" in my bed these days.......one of my friends bought it for my recent birthday. Shes a lovely great friend but she doesnt know me all that well, so I was surprised that she picked this book as I love the movie and all things Audrey! Sounds cliche doesnt it! What girl doesnt love Audrey?! Have to admit though, Ive get to find anything that I would buy from Tiffanys!? Just not my cup of tea!

I should write a remake of Breakfast at Tiffanys and call it........"Lunch at Paperlane"(which is my favourite scrapbook shop. Picture it........I would be wearing a beautiful pink bold patterned dress, my hair up like Holly with crystals, and my dark shades on. Id be holding a Starbucks, a mobile, a clutch bag and probably a nappy bag the size of a weekend bag too come to think of it! Id be staring in the window at embellishments, reels of ribbon and scrap albums. Paper and crystals would take me off to a dream land.......and then my daughter would start crying and banging her head on the pavement from boredom! lol! Maybe Im the only one to see this make believe movie.....but its funny......when Speilberg calls Ill let you all know!

I saw this in a magazine today... and I LOVE it! I wonder how many orders Id have to make to buy this Beauty? Its a Diorella ring by Dior (obviously)....nyum nyum nyum......

Well thats my update so far......Oh! I managed to make a journal today 'just for me'! Its gorgeous! Im thinking of rearranging my Etsy shop. Taking all the stuff from it to Cottage Chic store in Crowne Plaza, Dubai, and starting over in my Etsy.

Custom orders really are taking up alot of my time these days. I think I may start making collections of journals, cards, gift boxes etc for my Etsy store. Id eventually like to make my custom designs and scrapbook service a premium service. ie I would have 'off the shelf' collections and custom design services.

Ill start on this soon I think?

Something for me?

Ive been so busy with lots of orders recently that I havent had time just to 'enjoy' an afternoon of whiling away the hours scrapping my favourite photos of my Babygirl, while drinking tea and watching an old movie on TCM.

Dont get me wrong, I love the work that I do, but sometimes you just want to be creative for yourself! Its been ages since I had some time to make silly pretty cute stuff!

The one thing I really want to make is a new scrapbook for my Babygirls 2008. Ive got sooooo many amazing photos of her that are just screaming out to be adorned with buttons, lace and swirls!

The last scrap page I made was this one.................for Hallowe'en!!! Eeeek! Has it been that long?!See what I mean!

Time to get creative me thinks!

By the way, Ive been on a diet and been working out on the Nintendo Wii that my hubby bought me and so far Ive lost 1.5kgs which Im quite happy about! I definately dont want to be stick thin by any means! I love curvy women(not the curvy women that E! Enterntainment talks about that are only a size 8?! Curvy and size 8?! Hello?!), Im talking Nigella Lawson, sexy size 14! :) Not that I have anything against slimmer women, but I love my curves.....when they fit in my regular jeans, and right now they dont, hence the diet and Wii!
